![]() LGBTs and those who legally come to this country to provide a better life for their children are a few whose livelihood is debated daily. Racism in our America represents and applies to many groups. One can’t understand something they don’t know or live. To me, the word that comes to mind to those who judge is “ignorance”. These humans just don’t understand what it is like to be poor with no way out of this poverty. Other humans who are more blessed continue to find fault with what they do or don’t do with their lives. I know they exist and I know that no matter how hard they work, they will never leave their pink houses for a safer home. Although I work hard to keep what I have and am blessed to live in a safe community and am able to put food on my table every night, I am too familiar with those who have less fortunate lives. I also teach students who live in those houses. I see broken windows, barred up doors and aluminum siding falling off. I work in one of those other neighborhoods and see the little pink houses every single day. Many of our local neighborhoods don’t look like the one I live in. We can’t do much about the national debt or health care, our voices are muted to Congress and the president. ![]() I have been thinking and worrying about what is to become of this country. No matter which side one is on, the division between us is greater now than before votes were counted. No matter, it is what it is and there are plenty of protests out there that represent the symbolism of our divided America. I voted for her because she scared me less. Some have confidence that he will “make America great again,” while some firmly believe the country is doomed. The results have left many of us pondering what will become of our America under the newly elected president. So much has been written about this year’s election.
